The Last Time I Saw You

In a world of wealth and privilege, a killer is hiding...

Dr. Kate English has it all. Not only is the heiress to a large fortune; she has a gorgeous husband and daughter, a high-flying career, and a beautiful home anyone would envy.

But all that changes the night Kate's mother, Lily, is found dead, brutally murdered in her own home. Heartbroken and distraught, Kate reaches out to her estranged best friend, Blaire Barrington, who rushes to her side for the funeral, where the years of distance between them are forgotten in a moment.

That evening, Kate's grief turns to horror when she receives an anonymous text: You think you're sad now? Just wait. By the time I'm finished with you, you'll wish you had been buried today. More than ever, Kate needs her old friend's help.

Once Blaire decides to take the investigation into her own hands, it becomes clear that all is not as it seems in Baltimore high society. As infidelity, lies, and betrayals come to light, and tensions rise to a boiling point, Blaire begins to alienate Kate's friends and relatives with her relentless, accusatory questions. Lily's killer could be anyone- friend, neighbour, loved one. But whoever it is, it's clear that Kate is next on the list...

My friends at Harper Collins were kind enough to send me a copy of this and I am grateful. It truly was a phenomenal book.

For those of you who know me, or have read some of my other posts, it is evident that I love a good thrill. Let me tell you, this book had an abundance of it. I could not put it down. The idea of a murder taking place within a high-status community really struck me. I haven't read anything with a plot like that in the past, so it was very unique and interesting.

The characters were really easy to connect with. I loved Kate from the first page, and absolutely fell in love with her relationship with her daughter, Annabelle. She was the cutest little girl ever, and her innocence just got to me. I fell in and out of love with Simon, Kate's husband. He just gave off some really strange signals sometimes- I can't really explain it well, but if you pick up on what I mean when you read this, comment down below and let me know your thoughts. Then we get to Blaire- she didn't sit well with me from the start. Something about her seemed off. She almost seemed obsessed with Kate from the way she acted... but I shall say no more.

The murder was addressed in the first chapter, and that blew me away. I love when books have a quick start, and gets the anticipation rising right off the bat. i just find them so much easier to follow. Quick-paced plots always seem to get me, and cause me to become a hermit for.a few days so I can finish. "Anticipation is sometimes more exciting than real events" -Ana Monnar. I really like the concept of not being able to trust anyone- not only does it add to the anticipation but it allows for the reader to create their own thoughts about what will happen next. I just loved how nothing was ever expected. You could never really see the twists and turns that came after every turn of the page. I just loved every aspect of it. it was such an incredible read.

I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this book to any of you who like fast-paced and page-turning thrillers. I promise you, reading this will have you on the edge of your seats, and the book is going to be glued to your hands.

Please let me know if you read it.. I'd love to hear what you think.

Much love, my darlings xx

Happy reading!!
